After a couple of relatively quiet weekends, Chicago's summer violence once again spiked. The totals for the summer weekend of Friday, July 22 starting at noon through Monday, July 25 ending at 6:00 a.m. was 8 killed and 63 wounded.

The Chicago production on FX’s revival of "Justified: City Primeval" has been halted after two cars engaged in a rolling gun battle broke through the production's barricades early Thursday morning. A 19-year-old female not involved in the production was wounded.

Jurors found Jamal Smith, 34, of Chicago, guilty of three counts in the July 2021 death of 56-year-old Jay Boughton, of Crystal, MN. Boughton was shot in the head as he drove his son home from a baseball game on Highway 169 in the Minneapolis suburb of Plymouth.
