A car carrying three people was driving westbound on S. Loomis Boulevard when another vehicle pulled alongside and fired shots into their vehicle. All three in the car were struck, including a 7-year-old boy.

7-year-old among 3 shot and wounded while driving in Englewood

CHICAGO - Three people were injured after someone shot into a car in the Englewood neighborhood and a 7-year-old is among the victims, authorities said.

The incident happened around 5:45 p.m. this afternoon in the 7400 block of S. Loomis Boulevard in the Englewood neighborhood on the city's south side.

Police said a car carrying three people was driving westbound on S. Loomis Boulevard when another vehicle pulled alongside and fired shots into their vehicle. All three in the car were struck, including a 7-year-old boy.

The victims and their conditions are as follows.

  • 19-year-old male. Shot in the left leg. Good condition.
  • 23-year-old female. Shot in the left hand. Good condition.
  • 7-year-old male. Shot in the left arm. Good condition.

Area One Detectives are investigating this afternoon's shooting.

Two six-year-olds were shot last week, and one of those six-year-old victims was also shot in the Englewood neighborhood.
