A woman is in critical condition Friday after she was shot in the face while driving early this morning in the Lawndale neighborhood, authorities said.

Woman in critical condition, shot while driving in Lawndale

CHICAGO - A woman is in critical condition Friday after she was shot while driving early this morning in the Lawndale neighborhood, authorities said.

The incident happened just before 1:30 a.m. this morning on the 4200 block of W. 13th Street in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the city's west side.

Police said a 38-year-old woman was driving in her vehicle when an unidentified person in a gold sedan fired multiple rounds into her vehicle before the sedan fled the scene.

The woman was shot in the face and taken to Mt. Sinai where she is listed in critical condition on Friday.

There is no one in custody and Area Four detectives are investigating.
