Two men critical, 1-year-old in an uninvolved car grazed in the head on S. State

CHICAGO - At approximately 1:25pm in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on S. State street just north of 75th, three male victims aged 1, 18, and 28, were struck by gunfire.



Authorities reported this afternoon that two men, aged 18 and 28, both sustained gunshot wounds to the chest while at the Shell gas station in the 7400 block of S. State street in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood. The border between the Chatham neighborhood and Greater Grand Crossing runs down 75th street.

The men, or one of the men, were able to self transport to the University of Chicago Hospital where they were both initially reported in critical condition. The 18-year-old reportedly was shot in the chest and back, while the 28-year-old was shot in the chest, hip, and a foot.

The boy was transported to Comer Children’s Hospital and initially reported in fair condition.

There are no offenders in custody.

Area 1 Detectives are investigating.
