Two 19-year-olds shot, girl killed, boy in serious condition

Both victims were shot in the face early this morning. The boy remains in serious condition while the girl has been pronounced.

Two 19-year-olds shot, girl killed, boy in serious condition

CHICAGO - Authorities are reporting two 19-year-olds, 1 girl and 1 boy, were shot in the early morning on the city's south side.



The incident reportedly happened around 4:20 a.m. in the 800 block of E. 83rd Street in the East Chatham neighborhood on the city's south side.

Police said a 19-year-old male and a 19-year-old female were approached by an unknown offender who entered the location displaying a firearm. The offender fired shots and both victims were shot in the face.

The teenagers were transported in serious condition to University of Chicago Hospital. The male victim remains in serious condition, but the female victim has died from her injuries.

No one is in custody.

Area Two Detectives are investigating.

`Multiple fatalities' on Illinois highway following crashes

The crashes occurred late in the morning and involved 40 to 60 passenger cars and multiple tractor-trailers, two of which caught fire, Illinois State Police Maj. Ryan Starrick said.
