A responding officer was reportedly able to successfully apply a tourniquet to the victim's injuries, and the victim was transported to Christ Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

CHICAGO - A 15-year-old is in critical condition after he was shot in the leg while walking down the street Friday afternoon on the city's south side.



The incident occurred shortly after 4:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon in the 1600 block of W. Montvale Avenue where it intersects with S. Davol Street in the Morgan Park neighborhood. The location is just west of the West Leg of the Dan Ryan (I-57).

Police said a 15-year-old boy was walking down the street when a tan colored vehicle drove by. The vehicle stopped and an unknown male got out of the car and fired shots at the teenager, striking him in the leg.

A responding officer was reportedly able to successfully apply a tourniquet to the victim's injuries, and the victim was transported to Christ Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

No offenders are in custody. Area Two detectives are investigating.
