ASHBURN, CHICAGO - Another teenager was killed and a woman was injured in a shooting in the Ashburn neighborhood overnight, police said, on the same block that had another major shooting incident just three weeks ago.

Last night's shooting happened just before 10:30 p.m. on the 3400 block of W. 79th Street in the Ashburn neighborhood on the city's southwest side.

Police said a 16-year-old male and a 36-year-old woman were standing in an alley after leaving a party when an as-yet-unknown person opened fire.

The Chicago Fire Department reportedly took the teenager to Christ Hospital with a gunshot wound to his head. He was pronounced dead a short time after arrival. The 36-year-old woman was also taken to Christ Hospital where she is listed in good condition with one gunshot wound to the left leg.

There is no one in custody. Area One detectives are investigating.

As mentioned at the top, earlier this month on Saturday, February 5th, three people were shot in a drive-by shooting on the same 3400 block of W. 79th Street in Ashburn.

Two of the victims in that shooting, a 23-year-old man and an 18-year-old man, were placed in critical condition at the time. An 18-year-old woman was also shot, and she was listed in good condition.

There is also no one in custody for that shooting.
