CHICAGO — A stolen car jumped a curb and crashed into an Old Town neighborhood restaurant on Chicago's North Side Friday night, injuring six people sitting on the patio outside, authorities said.

Several people were dining on a patio at Uproar on the 1200 block of N. Wells Street in the Old Town neighborhood around 10:30 p.m. Friday night when the crash occurred, the Chicago Fire Department said.

A Lexus sedan was reportedly taken from a delivery driver who had left the vehicle running while making a delivery on a nearby block, according to CWBChicago.[1]

While leaving the scene of the theft, the driver of the stolen Lexus sedan tried to pass a Toyota Prius, but struck the front of the Prius and went out of control, jumping a curb and hitting the patio, police said.

The thieves in the stolen Lexus fled the scene on foot, police said. The driver of the Prius was not injured and refused medical attention.

Two women on the patio suffered broken legs and were initially reported in serious condition. A third woman had an injured foot, a man had a bruised back, and another man had a lacerated elbow, authorities said. A sixth person was injured but was not taken to a hospital.

All those injured were listed in good to fair condition on Saturday morning, the fire department said.
