Separate incidents leaves 4 shot on State Street in River North, 2 shot in the Gold Coast

Four people were shot with one victim in critical condition after a shooting in the River North neighborhood in the early Sunday morning hours and, later, two people were shot in the Gold Coast neighborhood in unknown condition.

Separate incidents leaves 4 shot on State Street in River North, 2 shot in the Gold Coast

Update: An update to the second incident in the Gold Coast has been posted below.

CHICAGO - Four people were shot with one victim in critical condition after a shooting in the River North neighborhood in the early Sunday morning hours, police said.

Later in the morning, two people were shot in the Gold Coast neighborhood. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

The first incident happened shortly after 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning outside Snickers Bar & Grille at the intersection of State Street and Illinois Avenue in the River North neighborhood on the city's near north side.

Police responded to many calls of gunshots and arrived to find multiple victims on scene.

A 29-year-old male was shot in the neck, jaw, and chest. He was taken to nearby Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition. The second victim, a 41-year-old male received a graze wound to the leg and was also taken to Northwestern Memorial where he is listed in good condition. The third victim is a 27-year-old male who was shot once in the foot. The third victim was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was also listed in good condition. The fourth victim, a 40-year-old female, was shot once in the leg and the knee. The female victim was taken to Northwestern Memorial where she was listed in fair condition.

A witness stated that the offender was shooting from a white vehicle that police said was traveling southbound on State but scanner traffic said was sitting outside of Snickers Bar & Grille when it began firing shots. Also according to scanner traffic of the incident, police were reportedly looking for two people in the white vehicle, a black man and a black woman.

There is no one in custody and Area Three detectives are investigating.

Later in the morning, just before 4:30 a.m., police responded to multiple calls of a lot of shots fired (the exact words were "too many to count right now") near the intersection of W. Elm Street and N. Dearborn Parkway in the affluent Gold Coast neighborhood on the city's north side.

Upon arrival, officers also found multiple people shot. One victim is a male in his 20s shot multiple times and found in the alley by the Blue Door Kitchen and Garden on W. Elm Street. Another male victim was found north of the scene near Division Street with a gunshot wound to his arm.

Both victims were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Their conditions are unknown at this time and their involvement in the incident is unknown at this time.

The second incident is a breaking news story and we'll continue to update as we know more.

Update: Police said a 37-year-old male was taken to Northwestern Hospital in serious condition with multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He is believed to be the man found in the alley on W. Elm. Police also said a 39-year-old male was taken to Northwestern Hospital in fair condition. He is believed to be the man found near Division Street.

No one is in custody. Area Three Detectives are investigating.
