Around 8:21 a.m., police said they found an as yet unidentified man dead with a gunshot wound to his face.

Man shot dead this morning on city's Near West Side

CHICAGO - An unidentified man was found shot dead this morning on the city's near west side.

Police said around 8:21 a.m. they discovered an unidentified man, believed to be in his 20s, unresponsive on the 2000 block of W. Van Buren Street on the city's Near West Side.

The man had been shot in the face and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Details are slim as authorities continue to investigate, but a witness reported seeing two unidentified offenders jump out of a white BMW SUV and shoot the victim. The white BMW SUV was also reported fleeing westbound on W. Van Buren after the shooting.

Area Three detectives continue to investigate.
