Man shot and killed, woman injured at popular Bronzeville bar

CHICAGO - A man was shot and killed and a woman was injured after a shooting in a popular Bronzeville bar Saturday night, authorities said.

Around 12:20 a.m. at an establishment in the 4600 block of S King Drive in the Bronzeville neighborhood, authorities said an unknown man stepped on a 27-year-old woman's shoe. That act lead to a 25-year-old man getting into a verbal altercation, presumably with the unknown man and, authorities indicated, with a larger group of men.

At some point in the argument someone within the group of men pulled a firearm and shot and killed the 25-year-old man and injured the 27-year-old female whose shoes had been stepped on.

The 25-year-old man was shot in the neck, chest, arm, and torso area. He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The 27-year-old female was shot in the chin and also transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center. The woman was in fair condition.

There is currently no offender description available as it is currently unknown who among the larger group of men fired the shots.

Area One Detectives are investigating with no one in custody.
