Man shot and killed on Easter Sunday in Auburn Gresham

CHICAGO - Police reported a 27-year-old man was shot and killed on Easter Sunday morning on the city's south side.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:21 a.m. in the 8400 block of S. Aberdeen Street in the Auburn Gresham community area on the city's south side.

Police said a 27-year-old male victim was outside when he was shot at by an unidentified offender. The victim sustained one gunshot wound to the thigh and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Initial scanner reports of the incident showed that a caller heard someone outside say they were dying. When police arrived they found a lot of blood at the location but no victim.

A short time later, Evergreen Park PD reported a drop off gunshot victim to Little Company of Mary Hospital where the man succumbed to his injuried.

As you can also see in the above scanner traffic, police initially believed the incident was domestic related but, at the time of this writing, they have not confirmed that nor have they identified any suspects.

There is no one in custody and Area Two detectives are investigating.
