Man critical and woman injured after mid-day shooting in Bronzeville

CHICAGO - Police reported a man and woman were both hospitalized after a mid-day shooting in the Bronzeville neighborhood on Saturday.

There's not a lot of information to go on at this time but the incident occurred just before noon in the 300 block of E. 47th Street in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the city's near south side.

Police said a 28-year-old male and a 21-year-old female were sitting in a vehicle when an unknown person approached and fired shots into the car.

The male victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the body and was transported to University of Chicago Hospital in critical but stable condition.

The female victim was described as receiving "an injury to the head from bullet fragments," which was later believed to be a graze wound. She was transported to University of Chicago in stable condition.

No one is in custody at this time. Area One Detectives are investigating.
