Man arrested in South Shore for indecent act and kidnapping 7-year-old

CHICAGO - Authorities reported the arrest of a man in South Shore last night after a call of a kidnapping and likely more charges coming after responding officers recovered the girl.

Around 5:30 p.m. yesterday evening, police were reportedly called to the 7600 block of S. Coles Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood on the city's far south side to respond to a call of a kidnapping.

At approximately 5:37 p.m., officers allegedly observed a 23-year-old male on a second-floor balcony of an apartment complex engaged in what officials reported as an "indecent act in the presence of a female victim."

At the time of the initial report, the female victim was of unknown age but officials later updated to say it was a 7-year-old girl. Though it's unclear exactly where the alleged kidnapping took place, the girl is a local resident of the South Shore neighborhood.

The 23-year-old offender was placed into custody and the female victim was transported to Comers Children’s Hospital in an unknown condition.

Area Two Detectives are investigating.
