Police said a 52-year-old man was parking his vehicle with a 3-year-old boy in the backseat when someone in a light green SUV fired shots.

Man and 3-year-old grazed by gunfire while parking in Back of the Yards

BACK OF THE YARDS, CHICAGO - A man was parking a vehicle with a 3-year-old child in the backseat when someone fired shots at the car, authorities said.

The shooting happened around 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning in the 5400 block of S. Damen Avenue in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the city's southwest side.

Police said a 52-year-old man was parking his vehicle with a 3-year-old boy in the backseat when someone in a light green SUV fired shots. The 52-year-old man was able to drive to Holy Cross Hospital.

Once there, they found he had a graze wound to his side while the 3-year-old had a graze wound to the left shoulder. Both the man and the boy are listed in good condition.

There is no one in custody and Area One detectives are investigating.
