Four victims struck by gunfire in South Shore restaurant shooting

According to the preliminary investigation, three armed male offenders exited a vehicle and approached the restaurant and began shooting from outside. Four individuals inside were struck.

Four victims struck by gunfire in South Shore restaurant shooting

CHICAGO - Police responded to a call regarding a person shot at a restaurant on the city's south side, only to discover multiple victims injured by gunfire.

The shooting happened shortly after 9:00 p.m. on the 2400 block of E. 72nd Street in the South Shore neighborhood.

According to the preliminary investigation, three armed male offenders exited a vehicle and approached the Kennedy Fish & Chicken restaurant on the above block where they began shooting from outside. Four individuals were struck by bullets, three males and one female, all of whom were standing inside the establishment at the time.

The victims, ranging in age from 29 to 32, were transported to various hospitals for treatment. A 29-year-old male suffered a gunshot wound to the thigh and was taken to University of Chicago Hospital, where he is listed in good condition. A 32-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to Jackson Park Medical Center, also in good condition.

Another 29-year-old male victim was shot in the leg and taken to University of Chicago Hospital in good condition. The sole female victim, 29 years old, received a graze wound to the ear and was transported to University of Chicago Hospital, where she too is in good condition.

At this time, no suspects have been taken into custody. Area One Detectives are investigating.
