Couple shot while driving in early morning hours in North Park

CHICAGO - Authorities said a young couple was shot while driving in the early Sunday morning hours in the North Park neighborhood on the city's northwest side.



Shortly after 2:00 a.m. a 24-year-old female and 25-year-old male arrived at Swedish Covenant Hospital and said they'd been shot while driving. The pair said the incident happened almost exactly 2:00 a.m.

They were traveling on W. Foster Avenue in the North Park neighborhood when, near the intersection of Foster and St. Louis by the hookah lounge, an unknown black man in a black SUV fired shots into their car. The victims were unable to provide further details on the suspect.

They were able to self transport to Swedish Covenant hospital, but the 24-year-old woman was shot in the arm, while the 25-year-old man was shot in the shoulder, knee, and suffered a graze wound to his face.

They were both listed in good condition.

There is no one in custoday but Area Five detectives are investigating. Neither of the two victims have had any previous incidents with law enforcement and were unknown to police.
