As of now, police don't know much about the incident as the victim was dropped off at the hospital, but it was the second 16-year-old victim this morning.

Another 16-year-old was shot several times this morning on the south side

Update: The victim has been pronounced.


CHICAGO - Police reported another 16-year-old shot this morning on the city's south side, making that the second 16-year-old victim in the city before 6:00 a.m. today.



Earlier we reported a 16-year-old shot and killed in the River North neighborhood around 2:00 a.m.[1]

This second incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. in the 9400 block of S. Throop Street in the Brainerd neighborhood, which is part of the Washington Heights community area on the city's south side.

As of now, police don't know much about the incident as the victim was dropped off at the Little Company of Mary Hospital with several gunshot wounds to his body, but they are reporting that the boy is 16-years-old. The teenager was transported to Christ Hospital's trauma center in critical condition.

Circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

No one is in custody at this time. Area Two detectives are investigating.
