Sadly, the shot and killed numbers remain on par and, as of this writing, 8 people have been shot and killed from noon on Friday, April 29 through 8:00 a.m. Sunday Morning, May 1.

Below is a summary of the incidents for those shot and killed so far for the weekend of April 29, 2022 - May 1, 2022. We'll update this post after tonight to include Sunday's incidents.

The weekend began Friday evening around 5:45 p.m. in the 300 block of S. Kilpatrick Avenue in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the city's west side.

Police said that a 69-year-old man was in his home when someone shot him in the chest. Police have not released either the victim's or a suspect's identity. All they've given is that the offender fled the scene and there is no one in custody.

Area Four detectives are investigating.

Later that night, around 10:17 p.m. officers responded to a shot spotter call in the 3400 block of S. Indiana in the Bronzeville/Douglas area.

On arrival to the location pointed out by the shot spotter, police said they found a 40-year-old male victim on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. The man was shot to the chest, the right flank, and his right hand and was pronounced dead on scene.

No one is in custody, Area One detectives are investigating.

In the early morning hours, around 1:05 a.m. in the 300 block of N. State Street, two females were in an argument with an unknown male offender on the sidewalk right in the heart of the River North neighborhood and outside of the iconic Marina Towers and House of Blues music venue. This unknown male retrieved a handgun from an unknown location and shot at both victims multiple times.

Victim #1 was a 26-year-old woman, later identified by her family as Tashawnna Anderson, was shot in the chest. She was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition but she was pronounced dead a short time later. Victim #2 is reportedly Tashawnna Anderson's 31-year-old sister, who sustained a gunshot wound to the left thigh. She was also taken to Northwestern Memorial where she was listed in good condition.

No one is in custody, but there was a potential additional incident involving a suspected third woman and two suspects a short time later, which you can read more about at CWBChicago.com.

Area Three detectives continue to investigate the incident.

Around 6:05 a.m., early Saturday morning in the 3400 block of W. Sunnyside Avenue in the Albany Park neighborhood on the city's northwest side, officers responded to a call of a person shot.

On arrival officers actually found two male victims, 31-years-old and 56-years-old, both with gunshot wounds. The 31-year-old sustained a gunshot wound to his head and was pronounced dead on scene. The 56-year-old victim sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and was transported to Illinois Masonic in serious condition.

At approximately 3:45 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, in the 1500 block of E. 95th Street in Calumet Heights, two robbery victims fought back.

Two 32-year-old males were allegedly walking back to their gray 2012 Volkswagen when another 32-year-old male attempted to talk to them. The continued walking to their car and, in fact, got in to their car but the other 32-year-old offender allegedly jumped in the back seat of the car, produced a handgun, and announce a robbery while striking one of the victim's in the head with his pistol.

But the victims pulled out a pistol of their own and fired shots at the attempted armed robber.

The offender was initially taken to the University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition but he later died.

Detectives are still investigating but this did occur in a populated area at peak traffic times and there are, ostensibly, many witnesses to the incident.
