Police discovered a 69-year-old man who had been missing for days unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds to the stomach and multiple stab wounds to his body.

CHICAGO - Police are investigating tonight after they were called to an apartment for a well-being check this afternoon only to discover a man shot and stabbed to death.



According to @SPOTNEWSonIG, a local who reports scanner traffic, sometime this afternoon police were called for a well-being check on a 69-year-old man. Neighbors said there was a foul smell coming from his apartment and the man hadn't been seen for a few days.

Around 4:45 p.m., a unit went to investigate the apartment in the 8100 block of S. Paulina in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the city's south side.

According to police, after the Chicago Fire Department helped them force entry into the apartment, they discovered the 69-year-old man unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds to the stomach and multiple stab wounds to his body.

The victim was pronounced on scene and, at this time, authorities were unsure how long the man had been deceased.

Area Two Detectives are investigating.
