CHICAGO - Police reported that a 68-year-old woman was shot this afternoon while she was walking in the Albany Park neighborhood. Another vehicle was also struck by gunfire but the occupants inside the vehicle were not hit.

The incident occurred just before 1:00 p.m. in the 4500 block of N. Central Park in the Albany Park neighborhood on the city's northwest side, where a reported 12-15 shots were heard.

Police said a 68-year-old woman was walking on the above block and, after hearing the gunshots, realized she had been shot in the right arm and right wrist. The woman was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital where she was stable.

A vehicle traveling southbound on the same block was also reportedly caught in the crossfire and was hit by gunfire. Initial scanner reports indicated a woman in that car was pregnant and wanted to get checked out by emergency services, though Police noted that no one in the vehicle was hit by bullets.

No one is in custody and Area Detectives are investigating.
