61-year-old man shot in odd morning robbery in Humboldt Park

CHICAGO - A 61-year-old man is recovering today after he was shot twice in a morning armed robbery while he was walking down the street in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.

The incident happened in the 1100 block of N. Lawndale Avenue at approximately 7:47 a.m. in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the city's northwest side.

Police said a 61-year-old man was walking down the street when a grey Chevy Impala pulled up with two unknown male offenders inside. One of the offenders got out of the Impala and robbed the victim. After the victim had been robbed of his items, the offender fired multiple shots at the victim for unknown reasons and the 61-year-old was struck twice in his legs.

The two men fled the scene in the gray Impala.

At least part of the incident was caught on a POD camera as authorities reportedly saw the 61-year-old crawling away from the scene. The victim was transported to Stroger hospital in stable condition.

No one is in custody. Area Four Detectives are investigating.
