55-year-old man stabbed to death in West Chatham

Police were called to the 300 block of W. 87th Street in the West Chatham neighborhood on the city's south side in response to witness calls of a brutal stabbing.

CHATHAM, CHICAGO - A man was stabbed to death in the West Chatham neighborhood Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

Police were called to the 300 block of W. 87th Street in the West Chatham neighborhood on the city's south side in response to witness calls of a brutal stabbing.

Police said on arrival they found a 55-year-old man stabbed in the chest by an unknown offender who had fled down the train tracks to get away.

First responders rushed the victim to Christ Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

No one is in custody. Area detectives are investigating.
