CHICAGO - A child is in critical condition on the city's far northwest side this morning after they were hit by two vehicles last night, authorities said. One of the vehicles fled the scene.

The incident happened last night shortly after 9:00 p.m. on the 6300 block of N. Cicero Avenue just inside the northwest border of the Sauganash neighborhood on the city's northwest side.

Police said a five-year-old boy was in the street on the above block when he was struck by the driver of a red Jeep that was driving northbound on Cicero. The child was then struck a second time by the driver of 2013 Volvo that was also driving northbound on Cicero.

The driver of the 2013 Volvo stayed on scene after the incident but the driver of the red Jeep fled the scene and has not been located yet.

The Chicago Fire Department took the boy to St. Francis where he is listed in critical condition this morning.

The Major Accidents unit is investigating.
