Police said three people were sitting inside a blue Dodge Durango waiting at a red light when two unknown males fired shots at the Durango from the sidewalk.

4 people shot at Loop intersection, 2 critical

Update: After dropping off the victims at Stroger Hospital, the blue Durango allegedly fled but was later found in Maywood.

CHICAGO - Three women and one man were shot at a downtown Loop intersection in the early hours this morning, two of the victims are in critical condition, authorities said.



The shooting occurred around 1:37 a.m. in the 400 block of S. Wells in the Loop.

Police said three people were sitting inside a blue Dodge Durango waiting at a red light when two unknown males fired shots at the Durango from the sidewalk.

The first person listed as a victim, a 26-year-old woman, was not in the Durango at all and was merely crossing the street at the intersection when she was struck by gunfire in the left leg. She was transported by the Chicago Fire Department in fair condition to Stroger Hospital.

The other 3 victims were all inside the Durango and all were dropped off at Stroger Hospital.

  • A 38-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the back was listed in critical condition.
  • A 28-year-old female with multiple gunshot wounds to the left leg was listed in fair condition.
  • A 31-year-old female with multiple gunshot wounds to the legs and back was also listed in critical condition.

There is no one in custody. Area Three Detectives are investigating.
