4 killed, 14 wounded in shootings Thursday afternoon to Friday morning

CHICAGO - A violent Thursday afternoon and evening saw 4 people shot and killed, plus an additional 14 wounded through the overnight hours into Friday across the city.

Among the wounded were two 13-year-old boys and a 16-year-old girl. Among the dead, an 18-year-old male and 19-year-old male.

We aren't going to detail all of the shootings from last night but we will highlight a few incidents.

Between 8:20 p.m. and 8:26 p.m. last night, two 13-year-old boys were shot and wounded in separate incidents and in separate neighborhoods.

The first happened in the 1900 block of S. Drake in the Lawndale neighborhood.

Police said the first 13-year-old victim was standing outside when he heard a loud noise and felt pain. The boy ran home and a family member took him to Mt. Sinai.

The boy had been shot once in the leg and was listed in good condition. Unfortunately, he could not provide detectives with much additional information.

The second incident happened six minutes later in the 1800 block of W. 46th Street in Back of the Yards.

Police said another 13-year-old boy was also standing outside when he was shot at in a drive-by by someone in a gray Chevy Impala. The boy was hit once in the foot and is in good condition at Stroger Hospital.

Later, around 9:35 p.m. on the 7900 block of S. Lafayette in West Chatham, four pepole were shot and one was killed among the group.

When police arrived to the location, there were two victims. A 23-year-old female and a 21-year-old male. One of the victims (the female, presumably) told police she was with a group outside when they were approached by a man who pulled out a gun and fired shots. He fled on foot.

The 23-year-old woman was shot in the arm and was in fair condition at University of Chicago Hospital. The 21-year-old male was shot in the hand and in the chest. He was also taken to the University of Chicago where he was later pronounced dead.

Police found a third victim in the shooting when a 40-year-old male arrived at Little Company of Mary with two gunshot wounds to the right arm. And police found a fourth victim when a 26-year-old male arrived at University of Chicago with a gunshot wound to the elbow. Both the third and fourth victims were listed in fair to good condition.

In the early morning hours, just after 2:00 a.m. on the 11400 block of S. Vincennes in Morgan Park, another 3 people were shot and one was dead among that group.

A 25-year-old woman, who was shot in the leg and in fair condition at Christ Hospital, told police that she and two other men were outside with a groupd of people when they were shot at by someone in a black sedan.

An 18-year-old male victim was shot in the torso and later died from his injuries at Christ Hospital. A 31-year-old victim was also shot in the torso and is currently critical at Christ Hospital.

There is no one in custody in any of the above cases. Area detectives are investigating.
