Update 2: The boy has been identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as 3-year-old Mateo Zastro.

Update: According to Chicago Police, this is believed to have been the result of a road rage incident.

CHICAGO - A 3-year-old boy was shot and killed while riding in a car with his mother and three siblings on the city's southwest side last night, authorities said.

The shooting happened around 8:40 p.m. last night on the 4400 block of W. Marquette in the West Lawn neighborhood on the city's southwest side.

Police said a woman was driving northbound on the above block with her 3-year-old son and his three siblings in her vehicle when someone in the rear seat of a red sedan pulled up next to them and fired shots into her car.

The boy was shot in the head.

He was rushed to Christ Hospital where he died from his injury. No one else in the mother's vehicle was injured.

There is no one in custody and Area One detectives are investigating, but police did note that they are looking for what they believe to be either a red Dodge Charger or a red Ford Mustang.
