22-year-old woman stabbed to death during south side fight, offender in custody

A fight on the city's south side Sunday night left a 22-year-old woman dead after she was stabbed multiple times during the fight, authorities said.

Update: The woman has been identified as 22-year-old Amy Brown. She lived on the same block in which she was attacked.

CHICAGO - A fight on the city's south side Sunday night left a 22-year-old woman dead after she was stabbed multiple times during the fight, authorities said.

The incident reportedly happened just before 10:30 p.m. Sunday night on the 5200 block of S. Carpenter in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the city's south side.

Police said a fight broke out and a 22-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times in the chest and arms.

The woman was taken to the University of Chicago Hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

The offender was placed into custody and the murder weapon was recovered. Area Detectives are investigating and gave no indication as to the relationship between the offender and the victim, nor if they were a man or woman.
