The victim was outside in the South Loop neighborhood around 6:00 a.m. Sunday when he was confronted by an unknown offender who demanded his property. It is unclear whether or not the victim refused to comply, but the offender started firing shots at him.

21-year-old in critical condition after South Loop robbery

CHICAGO - A 21-year-old male is fighting for his life after being shot during a robbery in Chicago's South Loop neighborhood early this morning, police said.

According to police reports, around 6:00 a.m. this morning, the victim was outside on the 2200 block of S. Wabash in the South Loop neighborhood when he was confronted by an unknown offender who demanded his property. It is unclear whether or not the victim refused to comply, but the offender started firing shots at him.

The victim was rushed to Stroger Hospital with gunshot wounds to his left and right thigh. He is currently in critical condition.

The attacker quickly fled the scene with the victim's property.

The police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, but the offender was already gone. No one is currently in custody, and Area Three Detectives have taken over the investigation.
