The teenager is in critical condition at Stroger Hospital after he was shot in the neck while driving.

CHICAGO - Authorities reported a teenager is in critical condition this morning after he was shot while driving through the McKinley Park neighborhood in the early morning hours.



The incident happened around 2:09 a.m. in the 3700 block of S. Ashland Avenue in the McKinley Park neighborhood on the city's southwest side.

Police said a 17-year-old male victim was driving northbound on Ashland when a silver sedan with four occupants inside pulled up next to the teenager's car. At this time it is not known who or from which position, but someone in the silver sedan opened fire.

The 17-year-old was hit, and suffered one gun shot wound to the neck. The teen was transported to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

There is no one in custody and Area One detectives are investigating.
