15-year-old shot and killed Saturday evening in Chicago Lawn

CHICAGO - The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office is reporting that the previously unknown victim killed on Saturday evening near Marquette Park, which is part of the Chicago Lawn community area, was a teenager.



The incident occurred at approximately 6:40 p.m. on Saturday at the Shell Gas Station in the 2400 block of W. Marquette Road on the city's south side.

There were approximately 17 rounds of full auto gunfire reported heard, though it's unclear how many casings police found at the scene.

At the time, police said that a male victim of unknown age was discovered by officers with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported to Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead.

After an autopsy, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office is reporting that the unknown male victim in the incident was 15-years-old. The name of the teenager has not been released.

Area One Detectives continue to investigate.
