The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. Monday morning on the 7800 block of S. State Street in the Grand Crossing neighborhood on the city's south side.

Police said a 15-year-old male was out standing on the sidewalk when an unknown male approached him on foot and fired shots.

The teen was able to get himself to Holy Cross for treatment but was later transferred to Christ Hospital in serious condition with multiple gunshot wounds to the body.
