GARFIELD PARK, Chicago - A 13-year-old boy was shot early this morning on the city's west side, authorities said.

The shooting happened aroung 1:30 a.m. this morning on the 700 block of S. Kostner Avenue in the Garfield Park neighborhood on the city's west side.

Police said a 13-year-old boy was walking down the sidewalk on the above block when he heard shots and felt pain. He had been shot in the left knee and was taken to West Suburban Hospital in good condition.

No one is in custody and area four detectives are investigating.

According to statistics provided by HeyJackass.com, as of September 1, 2022, there have been 260 kids 17-and-under struck by gunfire so far this year, and 42 have died.

Also according to HeyJackass.com, the Garfield Park neighborhood is leading the pack for violent Chicago neighborhoods in 2022 with 206 total shootings as of September 1, 2022.
