Another 12-year-old was shot in Chicago this afternoon, authorities said.

CHICAGO - Another 12-year-old was shot in Chicago this afternoon, authorities said.

The shooting happened around 5:08 p.m. on the 1000 block of W. 13th Street in the Little Italy neighborhood near the UIC west campus on the city's near west side.

Police said a 12-year-old boy was near the sidewalk on the above block when he was struck to the leg by gunfire. The boy was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was initially reported in good condition.

There are no offenders in custody, and area detectives are investigating.
