BURNSIDE, Chicago - A boy was out walking with his father and another child on the city's south side tonight when someone opened fire on the group in a drive-by shooting, authorities said.

The shooting happened shortly after 8:30 p.m. Friday night in the Burnside neighborhood on the city's south side.

The weather this Friday night was just about as close to perfect as a person could ask for, and yet, police said a 10-year-old boy was out walking with his father along with another male and another young child when someone in a red sedan fired shots at the group and fled.

The 10-year-old boy was shot in his left leg but his father was able to take him to Comer Children's Hospital where he is listed in good condition.

There is no one in custody and Area Two detectives are investigating.
