The 52-year-old officer, who had been on desk duty since shortly after the incident last summer, resigned from the Department in May before any formal disciplinary action was announced against him. He had been a Chicago officer since 1998.

The Naperville Police Department released bodycam and dashcam footage yesterday of an officer involved shooting earlier this month in which an officer fatally shot a man who came at the officer with a hatchet during an unrelated traffic stop.

Whitley Temple, 34, of the West Garfield Park neighborhood faces several felony counts, including aggravated battery of a peace officer and attempted murder. She was due for an initial court appearance Wednesday.

Crime
The bodies of Bryant Karels, 5, Cassidy Karels, 3, and Gideon Karels, 2, were found by their mother in a north suburban Round Lake Beach residence. Their father, Jason E. Karels, 35, has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder.
