Crews arrived at the townhouse about 4 a.m. on the city's far South Side to find flames shooting from the building's roof. As firefighters were fighting the fire, the building's second floor collapsed, trapping the two firefighters and prompting a mayday response, the Chicago Fire Department said.

Man thrown off hood, run over by teen girl driver during Lake County police chase
A preliminary investigation showed the girl was involved in a minor traffic crash in Beach Park. The man tried to intervene after the crash and was forced to jump onto the hood to avoid being hit by the girl's car, the sheriff's office said.
