Robert, Moncada power White Sox past Astros 6-3
Robert hit a solo home run in the fifth and made a spectacular sliding catch on the left-center warning track in the ninth to rob Kyle Tucker of extra bases. Moncada hit a two-run homer in the ninth as Chicago gained a four-game split of the opening series.

Man fatally stabbed in Homan Square area of North Lawndale
Despite his critical injuries, the victim managed to transport himself to Mt. Sinai Hospital. Unfortunately, his condition deteriorated rapidly, and he was pronounced dead a short time later.

According to police reports, the young victim was inside her bedroom in her residence when she heard gunshots coming from the street outside. She immediately felt pain and discovered she had been hit.

In Belvidere, Illinois, a tornado collapsed the roof of the Apollo Theatre as 260 people attended a heavy metal concert, killing one person and injuring 28, five of them severely, officials said.

Alvarez's bases-clearing double sends Astros past White Sox
White Sox reliever Kendall Graveman loaded the bases with two outs in the seventh on two walks and a single. Jake Diekman came on and gave up Alvarez's double to deep left-center, a drive that just eluded center fielder Luis Robert Jr. and bounced off the wall, clearing the bases.

Chicago jumped out to a 19-5 lead midway through the first quarter, with six Hornets turnovers leading to 10 points. The Bulls, who never trailed, pushed the lead to 16 at the half behind a series of LaVine drives and DeRozan mid-range jumpers.
