Alleged gang members charged in slaying of Chicago rapper
In one of the more high profile murders of last year's many, many, many murders, the U.S. Attorney's Office in Chicago said in a news release that the O-Block gang gunned down Carlton Weekly, also known as "FBG Duck," in August 2020 in the fashionable Gold Coast neighborhood.

US to reopen land borders in November for fully vaccinated
No testing will be required to enter the U.S. by land or sea, provided the travelers meet the vaccination requirement, according to the CDC. The U.S. will accept travelers who have been fully vaccinated with any of the vaccines approved for emergency use by the World Health Organization.

Biden appoints Debra Shore to lead EPA Midwestern office
Debra Shore, a wastewater treatment official in Chicago, will oversee EPA's Region 5, which includes Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin, and oversees efforts to clean up the Great Lakes, industrial and agricultural pollution, and tainted drinking water.
