Body taken with stolen funeral home van found in Chicago

CHICAGO (AP) — A man's remains were recovered Monday in Chicago, two days after they were in a van stolen from a funeral home in Rockford, police said.

The remains were recovered Monday evening on Chicago's South Side, Rockford police said on Twitter.

Someone took the van Saturday from a funeral home in Rockford, police said. The man's body was inside the van at the time.

The van was found Sunday in Chicago but the man's remains were not inside, police said. Rockford is about 90 miles (144.8 kilometers) northwest of Chicago.

Authorities released a photo of a suspect Monday. Anyone with information was asked to contact Rockford police.
