Three teenagers shot in drive-by in Back of the Yards

CHICAGO - Three teenagers were shot in the early evening last night in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the city's south side, authorities said Friday.

Police say the three male teenaged victims were standing near the sidewalk in the 5000 block of S. May Street when an unknown vehicle approached and an unknown occupant fired shots.

Authorities reportedly found 13 shell casings and 1 live round at the scene.

A 14-year-old boy was struck in the leg. A 16-year-old was also struck in the leg. Both were transported to University of Chicago hospital where the 16-year-old was listed in good condition while the 14-year-old was listed in serious condition.

Another 16-year-old boy was struck in the foot and officials reported he was transported to St. Bernard Hospital but initial reports indicated he was taken to the hospital by his mother. At St. Bernard, he was reported in good condition.

There are no offenders in custody. Area 1 Detectives are investigating.
