The body of 23-year-old Ariana Taylor of Calumet Township was found in a shallow drainage ditch around 9 a.m. following a search by cadaver dogs, Gary Police Cmdr. Jack Hamady said at a news conference.

Jin Lew, 61, was found robbed of his belongings and beaten into a coma in the Chinatown neighborhood last week. He was last seen leaving a son's home in the South Loop. The family believes he was violently carjacked and left for dead.

Fire crews worked with tools late Tuesday afternoon to free a 53-year-old man in grave condition trapped under heavy stone debris but were unable to save him, the Chicago Fire Department posted on Twitter.
