3 shot, 1 killed in Portage Park after leaving private (illegal) social club
Three people were shot and one was killed at a location that was operating an illegal afterhours social club in the Portage Park neighborhood on the city's northwest side.

CHICAGO - Police reported three people were shot, including one killed, in the early morning hours in the Portage Park neighborhood after leaving a private (illegal) social club.

The incident occurred in an alley in the 4800 block of N. Central Avenue in the Portage Park neighborhood on the city's far northwest side.

Police said that around 4:36 a.m., a 20-year-old female and a 23-year-old male were walking in an alley when an unknown offender began shooting in their direction, striking both of them.

The 20-year-old female was transported to Community First Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

After being shot in the abdomen and the buttocks, the 23-year-old male was able to self-transport to Illinois Masonic Hospital but he was listed in critical condition.

A third 23-year-old male was apparently also shot inside the location the other two victims had just left. Though it is unclear where on the body he was shot, the third victim was also able to self-transport to Illinois Masonic Hospital where he was also listed in critical condition.

No one is in custody at this time. Area Five Detectives are currently investigating.

While authorities could not confirm, the initial reports of the incident indicate a private (illegal) social club was operating at the location. Essentially, a place where people were gathering for afterhours bar service, etc., without proper licensing, health inspections, or zoning for such an operation.
