A drive-by shooting on the 8600 block of S. Damen on Saturday afternoon left 1 dead and 3 wounded, police said.

CHICAGO - A man was killed and three more were wounded Saturday afternoon in a drive-by shooting on the city's south side.

Around 3:20 p.m. Saturday afternoon, four men were in a backyard and near the alley on the 8600 block of S. Damen Avenue in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the city's south side when a car drove by and someone inside fired shots at the group.

Police said near 20 shots were fired.

The victims and their injuries as we can confirm them are as follows:

  • 39-year-old male. Gunshot wound to the left leg. In good condition at Christ Hospital
  • 24-year-old male. Gunshot wounds to the left leg and the foot. In good condition at Christ Hospital.
  • 42-year-old male. Multiple gunshot wounds to the body. In fair condition at Christ Hospital.
  • 23-year-old male. Multiple gunshot wounds to the body. Pronounced dead at Christ Hospital.

We've seen the reports from the Sun-Times and ABC7 that says there was an additional wounded man but the police are either unable or unwilling to confirm that fifth victim with us, at this time.

We know we're a much smaller publication than the others but we do our best to confirm all reports ourselves before reporting, and we'll be sure to update if we're able to find the fifth victim.

There is no one in custody. Area Two Detectives are investigating.
