So you didn’t get a ticket for Lollapalooza, but you want to hear some live music this weekend. Well, if you’re hanging out in the West Loop on Saturday, Aug. 4, you’re in luck.
The Merit School of Music will be closing down Peoria Street between Madison and Monroe for its first-ever “Sounds of Summer” Block Party. The street festival will offer a range of music, including classical, jazz and bluegrass, from Merit students and faculty.
Besides music, the block party will feature family-friendly games, a dunk tank and inflatable jump house. Food trucks will also be on hand.
The musical block party will run from 11 a.m. to 4 a.m. Admittance is free.
