Run, Forrest, run! Earlier this summer, "Forrest Gump" played to West Loopers at Mary Bartelme Park.

It was the year of the U.S. bicentennial. Gerald Ford was president and LED watches were popular fashion accessories. Apple Computer Company was formed by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. Paul McCartney and Wings topped the charts with “Silly Love Songs.” The year was 1976 the movie of the year was “Rocky.”

Tomorrow night you can go back in time for the story of Rocky Balboa for the second and final 2012 Movies in the Parks event at Mary Bartelme park. “Rocky” will begin at dusk (around 8 p.m.) weather permitting.

Bring a folding chair, blanket, snacks and you’re all set. The free showing is underwritten by the Bartelme Park Advisory Council.

This is the 12th year for the Movies in the Parks series, which features 176 screenings in 128 citywide parks.
