West Loop residents looking for weekend activities this summer have a cornucopia of options. Last Friday, Mercy Home hosted its first-ever Mercy Fest. This coming Sunday, July 29, Mary Bartelme Park takes center stage for another first: the West Loop Family Picnic.

The picnic is the brainchild of the park’s advisory council. It will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free.

Children’s games will be available from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by a bring-your-own-food picnic. Food trucks will also be on hand.

A dance class for kids will be available from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., followed by adult boot camp fitness sessions from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. An adult cardio class will run from 2:30 to 3 p.m.

A raffle will also be held with restaurant gift certificates, museum family passes and spa packages.
