Make meters free overnight

I’ve tried to contact Alderman Fioretti with this suggestion (“Parking, parking, parking,” May 7). Residents in their immediate places of residency who have all appropriate current city and residential parking permits and no parking tickets should be allowed to park in metered parking spaces after 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. for free, since ... it makes no sense at all for the city to continue to sell residential parking permits in areas where metered spaces are being installed. It’s disingenuous, at best.

We don’t need more parking

Thank You! I am so fed up with these unreasonable chants for more parking suggestion (“Parking, parking, parking,” May 7). It’s simply not fair to make these demands in a dense, urban area, and until this overly vocal minority comes to terms with reality, they will continue to damage the livability of their own neighborhoods. Enough is enough, and I urge the alderman and city planners to stand up to these people for once and for all.
