We don’t even know what to say about Pete’s Fresh Market any more. This project has dragged on for so long with such little activity, and it seems sometimes like nothing will ever happen.
While it’s quickly become a boondoggle, we are still holding out hope that things will finally get started in the very near future. It appears all the legal wrangling between the city and Pete’s ownership is done, and they finally own the land they’ll build their store on.
It’s about time. The people on the Near West Side deserve a grocery store. It’ll enliven that neighborhood.
Let’s hope that the stalling is over and this thing can get moving by the beginning of construction season.
