Gathering and gossiping in South Loop squares

04/27/2011

How come you didn’t mention any public squares that are in Chicago?” I asked author and architect Robert Gatje when he lectured about his book Great Public Squares at the Chicago Architecture Foundation recently.

Let's work together for our children's education

Letter to the editor

04/27/2011

People across Chicago have complained that we have not had strong, effective leadership in reversing the serious problems that our children face in terms of Education. The recent naming of the new Chicago Public Schools CEO will likely amplify these complaints. Many claim that there has been a lack of leadership on education here in Chicago.

Solis taking the lead in Pilsen safety

Letter to the editor

04/20/2011

As a Perez Elementary School parent and resident of Pilsen, I am tiring of the critics saying that the alderman has done nothing to address environmental concerns in our community.

04/20/2011

This cold Chicago spring is giving birth to more than hardy flowers and greener grass. Rahm Emanuel is not the only person plotting a rebirth for the city. 04/06/2011

Richard M. Daley’s favorite alderman will live to see another mayor after all. Appointed by Daley in 1996, Danny Solis was the mayor’s go-to man in the city council. Solis could be counted on to vote in lock-step with the mayor on anything from parking meters to big-box store living wages.

04/06/2011

Diesel exhaust is one of our city’s worst sources of toxic air pollution. The pollution from diesel construction equipment and vehicles is a major threat to the public’s health, known to trigger asthma attacks, heart attacks, lung cancer, and even premature death.
